Melanoma Research Lab
The Melanoma Research Lab focuses on identifying the underlying genetic cause of melanoma development. The lab has identified several novel genes involved in melanoma development and is currently studying the mechanisms by which these genes contribute to melanoma with the long-term aim to design molecularly targeted treatments.
Current Projects: 1. Identifying mechanisms by which aberrant FGFR2 contributes to melanoma initiation and/or progression
2. Evaluating several new drugs as possible melanoma therapies
3. Identification of new oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes associated with melanoma progression
